PLEASE READ BEFORE YOU BUY LOREX

I had a fire in 2011. Burnt the inside of my house and destroyed 95% of everything. Belive it or not, that wasn't the worst part of the story. During the rebuilding process, i had been a victim of fraud from the first restoration company that arrived. Basically scam artist only wanting to take insurance money. - Long story short, i caught on and got them out, but still have to sue them and worry about them causing vandalism or worse and the son of the business figh i'mting, lives two blocks away. So i need a security system to watch over my newly built house while I fight the company.

Little did I know it would create a an extension of the nightmare I was already living. ENTERS Lorex technologies.

I bought a 4 camera Lorex live system, two wireless, two wired that I was supposed to be able to view from my iPhone. After 2 months of getting the system installed and trying to get the system to work I couldn't get it to work on the iPhone. Turns out that was the least of my worries, because a power supply goes.  I call Lorex and after about 5 or six hours of my time, I have to trouble shoot their faulty equipment. Again hire somene to take the camera down, then hours on the phone again waiting to connetc again, only to determine the power supply was bad.

After a week, get a new camera, hire somoene to install.

a few days later, the camera goes out again.

Hire installer to take down and hours/ turn into days trouble shooting. - it's the receiver this time.

they send another one reluctantly tryiong to convince me it's not their fault I am having trouble.

A few days go by, the camera just stops working... You guessed it HOURS on the phone to get help. Get hung up on call back, closed, call again next day, hours on phone, told they would call back, never do. Call them back, hours waiting. Finally I  just want my money back! This is the third time I had to uninstall and trouble shoot their CRAPPY equipment. Nope after 30 days, no refund. Guy treats me like shit! Hangs up on me then marked case i opened on their website to get service as "closed" I'm furious!  - Call back and talk to his manager or something to that affect and trouble shoot the camera after unstalling AGAIN. they say send a new camera.

few days, the DVR stops working! Just keeps resetting all bby itself.  can't access any video, call they have me reset it, losing any video I had and it doesn't work. Tell me I need firmware update on website. That will fix it. I go to website and cannot find the Firmware? Impossible to find. I call AGAIN, wait hours on the phone only to reach same douchbag guy, who give me a link. I download the software and he will not wait on the phone while I finish. I don't want to have to call back if it doesn't work, cause I've spent WAY too much time with this. He treats me like crap, eventually hangs up.

I try the firmware an it doesn't work. He gave me the wrong link. I call back abd speak with a girl, who had way better things to do, then to give me a correct link she said was on theire website and she didnt have time to wait for me to find it. I beg that she stays on the phone as i feaverously work to download it. Completely different place than the previous guy sent me, but I download it. She says that ill fix it and wants me off the phone. I tell he it didn't work last time and i didn't want to call back and PLEASE stay on the phone for a minute. I try the firmare and she blames the USB drive telling me it' could be the wrong kind?? WTF - how many kinds of USB sticks do you know of? The machine recognized it, and it formated, but because the machine is not fixed, all of a sudeden the USB is the  kind?

After another few minutes, the DVR is bad and they tell me I never sent anything back. I tell her I was not aware you wanted your faulty equipment back, so why didn't you send the shipping papers with the replacement? No shippng papers come with the equipment. I call back, tell them and they say it was sent twice, but no record in my email. They send a new on and it comes right through. (why didn't it come through the two times before that?)

She said they would and sends me the new DVR. I pack up the broken crap and send it back.

At this point I'm not even sure where i am at with return and getting the system set up, but everythign i have done settings wise (hours of wasted time) were goen with tehnew DVR. I'm so pissed at this point I want to explode. THEN you guess it....  the freaking camera goes out! AGAIN!!! I call AGAIN and go through HELL AGAIN, but they will not refund my money and Who is paying me back for the installation, uninstallation(S) that keep costing me time and money. NowI report them to the BBB, consumer affairs, complain on Twitter, Facebook, and wherever else I can write a review.

I finally get someone who will refund me the full price if they receive everything back. What about my installation fees that seem to have quadroupled in price from the failures? Who is paying for that?

We dont' cover installation reimburshment. is the line i got from a represetative.

So now I have wasted HOURS/ DAYS, took time off work, paid to have people put to my house 4 or five times, and their response is a emotionless we'll refund you money if you want, but we are doing you a favor because we have a 30 day return window. - Never mind you have had the worst-refurbished product we can pawn off, but we are doing you a favor.

I cannot even describe where i'm at on this whole situation. I had a bad thing turn into a even worse thing because i decided to buy from Lorex technologies. PLEASE DO NOT BUY FROM THEM EVER! I cringed when i saw them advertising a Baby monitoring system! I would NEVER trust anything as precious as a baby to their faulty equipment. You would never forgive yourself if something happened and it was because of the very common failures you can read in reviews all over google, amazon, costco etc, etc. Just google "lorex sucks"

I'm sure I forgot something because i'm writing out of anger, but I will edit as time goes on to tell you what works and what doesn't I got a lynsys camera and had to aim it at the montior so i could view my cameras online. It took me about 20 minutes total, so lynsys are gret products. The resolution is not steller, but was better than LOREX.

I am a technical coordinator at two different companies, one is a manufacturing company with private building, and the other is a distribution company....LOREXT HAS BEEN AWEFUL....every single step of the way, someone needs to do something about it, i have not had anything short of the exact same experience you have, i have asked for their senior sales officials, and on and on, and they refuse to give me anyone other than the guy at the "leadership" desk of their call center....what a horrible waste of money, and by money i mean i would have rather taken the 1000+ dollars and fed it to an alligator by hand.

  2. Wow, sorry to hear that you are having problems too. I suggest you report them to the BBB like I did and leave feedback on Amazon and YouTube, twitter, and any other place you can.

    I've been blocked form their YouTube channel, but I still cringe every time I see their baby monitoring equipment for sale. I wouldn't trust my grass to Lorex, let alone my child.

    what happened to me takes too much time to post.. and is almost unbelievable.

    cyber monday...I visually picked out a 4 camera WIRELESS SYSTEM It said wireless everywhere........cameras had antennas etc....looked at it from dec 2 till dec 4... made a decision ...paid for it.......
    basically..ordered Apples got Oranges
    I received a wired system. and the DVR was not even a lorex product...I am missing six fingers...soooooo I would never buy something with 780 feet of wire...anyway
    BBB is involved....there webpage changed after the sale....I know what I purchased
    I know what I paid for....I KNOW WHAT I SAW...I AM NOT STUPID
    They are telling me I MADE A MISTAKE......I forgot I was a fucking Idiot...sorry
    the story is bizarre from the second I tried to track the package....and too much bizarre stuff to write...I THINK I HAVE MADE MY POINT..
    well The garbage is on the way back to them.....
    my gf.is a computer programmer from 1988...she knows what they are up to..but proving it is impossible.......my advice
    WARNING DONT BUY LOREX....DONT EVEN LOOK AT IT.....
    I am a pretty tough guy but this company almost gave me a Stroke.....

    1. Between GAYpal and Lorex, it took 3 weeks for my DVR/2 HD cams to be delivered. They use low IQ PUPPY-MUNCHERS in the Philippines for 'technical support' and "Customer Service". I have spent since July 13, 2017 when it arrived trying to backup video on a USB Flash Stick. It's Aug. 3rd now. I CRINGE just at the thought of having to spend any time on the phone with these POS ORCs. Welcome to the TURD World folks!

  5. Wish I had read this before we made the mistake of purchasing a 16-channel system from Lorex. After 1 year the DVR went bad. Sent it back and paid another $150.00 for replacement. 2 months later it has gone bad. Their customer service is horrible. We spent 40 minutes on hold everytime we called, then they never follow through with what they say. They conveniently deleted our account info so there is no warranty info. Would never buy Lorex if had known this nightmare. Now we have 16 cameras that are worthless and no Security. Lorex is a total joke of a company.

    1. Sorry to hear about this Brook. I would suggest that you try and return the products and buy anything else. I bought a no-name system on ebay and it's been problem free for 4 years. I also recommend dlink cameras. I've had very good luck with them.

      Hope you get everything figured out. I feel really bad for people who have to deal with the "support" from Lorex.

  7. I will leave this commentary here as anon. I worked for them ... sucks major ass to troubleshoot faulty machines that in 1 year will stop working ... i might have took your calls but i got fed up with their shitty systems and quit. Dont get me started with the apps on the phones. Bye lorex
